Shindig! No.55

Get yer Shindig! No.55 with great stuff on Fifty Foot Hose, Kinks, Clangers, and the 2016 Festival Guide. Enjoy a bit of me talking to Dave McMacken about a densely-woven Zappa cover. And loads more!

Shindig! No.54

Out now is Shindig! No.54. Not a huge amount from me this month but what there is involves plenty of scarabs, ankhs and sarcophagi. Elsewhere there's Giallo, The Radiophonic Workshop and of course The Band — with some hitherto unseen Elliot Landy photos. And of course there's plenty more besides. Get it.

Shindig! No.53

Just out is Shindig! Magazine No.53. A 1966 special this month, my contribution is a period-appropriate Vinyl Art. Plus I get my hands on a Jean-Claude Vannier reissue and some Ghost Box 45s. The rest of the issue is packed with great stuff. The Monkees. Barry Miles. Camberwick Green!

Another Double Header

Double action again this month. In preparation for my talk in January, read a short piece about the music of the Carry On films and the genius of Eric Rogers in MediaMagazine 54, as well as plenty more fascinating media studies stuff. Then head over to Shindig! Issue 52 for my thoughts on a Delia Derbyshire single, an Acid Jazz compilation and the bucolic Vic Mars, as well as the usual fun in Vinyl Art (This month; mountain ranges, marsupials...). Elsewhere we're giving out gongs, there's the Zombies and a lovely bit of the Bonzos. Woof!

Carry On!

In January I'll be giving a talk titled 'Eric Rogers and the Legacy of Light Music' at King's Lynn Community Cinema Club. Expect plenty of clips from the Carry On movies!

I Got Chills...

Check out my interview with composer Alan Howarth on the Shindig! Magazine site.

Bye Bye This Is My Jam

Even though I only stumbled upon it last year, I'm really sad to see the demise of This Is My Jam. Here's a Spotify playlist of ALL my jams in commiseration.
